Dr. Marcelo TEstimonial _ March # 2 Team

IMG_0827My second trip to Haiti ha been fabulous, a lot of different situations to handle… most of them political by the way…

We first started with the fact that we were not allowed to operate the patients at the orphanage… basically in my point of view it is related to the fact that they now have a “hospital” across the street and they fear that we will take the cases from them… I fell sorry to see that they do not reach our spirits here… we just want to help people that need… Due to this situation, me, Christine, Michael and our translator Stanley spent basically all of our first day here driving around Port-au-Prince trying to solve the problem… no solution at all by the way.

Then our medical students US visa problem that is also driving us a little crazy… looks like it will be fine, but as far as I concern I will be in peace by the time they make to Miami and São Paulo…

Even with all these problems I can take it again, again and again… Personally I believe that this is all about people helping people. Simple likeIMG_1082 this… it really does not matter for me if I will perform a surgical procedure or work at the clinic taking care of all those people, helping around or just playing with the kids, by the way it is fabulous to see they growing healthy and well … the point is being able to be here and help. This is a priceless experience and makes each one of us better people… Only God knows how much these people need us here doing small little things…

We had two deliveries at this trip, as a general surgeon the last one I was involved I could not even remember may be 18-20 years ago… Lot’s of fun I tell you! Dr. Lisa was amazing !!! I was trying to do my best to help her and we all were very happy to see the baby after a few hours … then yesterday again… But at this time family requested us to take the young 18-years old girl to a hospital… there we were driving at the Van when finally we realized that we were running out of gas… The water literally exploded in front of the hospital and she delivered a nice little boy right after…

Well I could keep writing here for hours… not a lot of days but amazing histories for all of us… My first trip with a Brazilian team, and I am proud of them. We learn… always.

A priceless experience, life changing, unique… Once again thank you my Sister Guiga, what a wonderful work… I am very, very proud of you. Be sure you achieved your goal, you are making a huge difference in lot’s of people life’s….

Love you all guys from PFH and I am extremely proud to be somehow part of this family!!!

I will be back soon for sure.
