Flavia Mamede Testimonial – March # 2

Andrea’s Testimonial – March # 2 team

Allison’s Testimonial _ March # 2 Team
In March 2012, I had the pleasure to go on my second trip to Haiti with “People for Haiti.” My first mission in January was an incredible, life-changing experience. So, when I got the opportunity to go back down there, I didn’t have to think twice about it. This time, the team from the States was to meet a team of doctors and medical students from Brasil for a surgical mission. When I met the Brasilian group in Miami, I knew we had a great team and I could hardly

My second trip to Haiti ha been fabulous, a lot of different situations to handle… most of them political by the way… We first started with the fact that we were not allowed to operate the patients at the orphanage… basically in my point of view it is related to the fact that they now have a “hospital” across the street and they fear that we will take the cases from them… I fell sorry to see that they do not reach our spirits here… we just want to help people

Angela’s Testimonial – march Team
This was my first time doing a mission trip, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The only things I knew about Haiti were limited to news briefs and second hand knowledge. I don’t think anything ever prepares you for something like this. I was assigned to triage, with just some basic medical knowledge from massage school, I was to assess medical care and get backgrounds and, weights on the babies, ect. There were so many people with rashes, sores, infections, malnutrition and dehydration amongst the more serious problems. It was a little overwhelming I’ll admit; yet there was strength of

Dr. Freddy’s Testimonial – March Trip
Every time I go to Haiti I am amazed by the resilience and strength of the children that I encounter. They are always filled with hope, laughter and joy. Even though they have repeatedly endured tragedy, thirst and hunger, they always find a way to smile and be cheerful. They are so grateful. I am so blessed to have spent a few days with the children at the orphanage and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be a part of People for

Dr.Vakesh’s Testimonial – January 12
I returned to Haiti a year after my first trip. The first time had been a fulfilling experience and this one proved to be just as rewarding. Arriving in Port Au Prince, conditions were still deplorable but I saw small signs of change. Stepping out from the airport a local man wearing a tropical print shirt and a big grin put a glossy travel magazine in my hand and said “Welcome to Haiti, Sir”. Outside there were other ‘tell tale’ signs of progress. The dusty roads were lined with vendors and

Wendy’s Testimonial – January 12
My first trip to Haiti was very eye opening to the point that most of my time was spent in shock. On my second trip, I knew what to expect on my journey……..During this trip, I had to spend less time trying to figure out what I should do and where I should be. Instead, I was able to just be there, let my guard down and wrap my arms around as many children as I could. The most wonderful thing about Haiti is the people. Even though they have been

Tammy’s testimonial – January 12
Anniversary Trip This trip to Haiti was an Anniversary trip. My one year mission trip anniversary was celebrated on my 5th trip to Haiti. But this wasn’t just “my” anniversary. It was also the 2 year anniversary of the catastrophic 7.0 earthquake that quickly turned an already fragile Haiti into a land of utter devastation... over 300,000 lives lost, another 300,000 injured and over 1,000,000 homeless... those that were already famished became completely helpless. It’s hard to believe that it’s already been two years since the earthquake, and even harder
